How does meal voucher acceptance work on Qonto card readers?

  • Updated

You can accept meal voucher card payments on your Qonto card reader, making it easier to collect payments in-store. ✅
Transactions will appear in Qonto, but funds are usually paid out by the meal voucher provider (Edenred, Up, Pluxee, Bimpli, Swile).

Availability: this feature is intended for businesses operating in France and is available on Qonto physical card readers (Pro and Pocket). 💻

What is meal voucher acceptance on my Qonto terminal?

Meal voucher acceptance lets you take payments with meal voucher cards directly on your Qonto terminal.
The following meal voucher cards are supported: Edenred, Up, Pluxee, Bimpli and Swile.

Depending on your situation, activation may be automatic (if your business is correctly registered and identified). In some cases, you may need to update your details with the CNTR or with the providers.

Which meal voucher providers are accepted?

You can accept cards from:

  • Edenred: Edenred meal voucher cards.
  • Up: formerly Chèque Déjeuner.
  • Pluxee: formerly Sodexo.
  • Bimpli: Bimpli meal voucher cards.
  • Swile: Swile meal voucher cards.

How do I activate meal voucher acceptance?

If your business is already registered with the CNTR (Commission Nationale des Titres-Restaurant) and the SIRET number on your Qonto account matches your CNTR registration, activation is automatic.
You don’t need to do anything.

Once the feature is live on your terminal, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

My terminal isn’t accepting meal vouchers — what should I do?

The most common checks are:

  • You’re not registered with the CNTR:
Go to cntr.fr/restaurateurs to sign up. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes, but CNTR validation may take up to 1 month.
  • You’re registered with the CNTR, but with a different SIRET than the one on your Qonto account:
Ask the CNTR to update your SIRET, or update the SIRET on your Qonto account so it matches your CNTR registration.

After the correction, activation may require some time to be taken into account before it becomes available on your terminal.

How much does it cost?

Qonto does not charge any fees on meal voucher transactions.
However, meal voucher providers (Edenred, Up, etc.) may apply fees depending on the contract you have with them.

Is there a maximum amount per transaction?

Yes. Meal voucher payments are subject to a spending limit set by regulation (which can change).
In practice, this limit is €25 per transaction, so payments above the authorised limit will be declined.

When will I receive funds from meal voucher payments?

In most cases, funds are paid directly by the meal voucher provider (Edenred, Up, Pluxee, etc.) to the bank account you registered with that provider.
Payout timelines vary by provider and can take up to 1 month.

Qonto does not take part in the settlement process between the provider and your declared payout account.

Will the funds land in my Qonto account?

Not necessarily. Funds are sent to the account you registered with each provider.

If you want to receive funds into your Qonto account, log in to each provider’s business portal and set your payout IBAN to your Qonto IBAN.

Can I issue a refund on a meal voucher payment?

No. Refunds are not available for meal voucher transactions, in line with the applicable rules for this payment method.
This is why the refund option won’t be available for these transactions in your Qonto interface.

Are tips allowed on meal voucher payments?

Yes, tips are allowed on meal voucher payments.

Where can I track my meal voucher transactions?

You can track them directly in your Qonto account.
Meal voucher transactions appear under the provider’s name (Edenred, Up, etc.), along with a note indicating that settlement is handled directly by the provider.

Is this feature available on Tap to Pay?

No. Meal vouchers can only be accepted on Qonto physical card readers (Pro and Pocket).
