How do I designate Qonto as my client's PDP?

  • Updated

Streamline your clients' e-invoicing compliance 🚀 with Qonto's E-invoicing module in the Accountant Hub. This feature allows you to designate Qonto as the official certified e-invoicing platform (PDP) for your clients directly from one centralized interface.

You can activate Qonto as PDP for all your clients—whether they already have a Qonto account or not. The module displays each client's current PDP status and lets you manage designations efficiently.

Available to: Accountants with access to the Accountant Hub on 💻 web First-time requirement: Complete a one-time identity verification process before your first PDP activation (document review takes up to 48 hours, and you'll receive an email notification once approved).

How do I access and use the E-invoicing module?

To access the PDP designation feature, log in to your Accountant Hub on 💻 web and navigate to E-invoicing. By default, you'll see a list of all your clients who have Qonto accounts and to whose accounts you have been granted Accountant role access.

In the E-invoicing section, each client displays a PDP status indicator that shows their current PDP designation state:

  • Qonto: The client has already designated Qonto as their PDP and the setup is complete
  • Other: The client has designated a different provider as their PDP
  • Activate: The client has not yet designated any PDP—click this button to begin designating Qonto as their PDP
  • Pending: The PDP designation process is currently in progress for this client

When you click on a Pending status, you can view the complete history and details of the designation process.

If needed, you can resend the invitation to your client by clicking the […] button next to the Pending status. This view helps you track where each client is in the activation journey and take action if the process stalls.

What if my client doesn't appear in the E-invoicing list?

By default, the E-invoicing module only displays clients whose Qonto accounts you already have access to with the Accountant role. If your client is not using Qonto yet, or if you don't have accountant access to their existing Qonto account, you can still add them to your client list and manage their PDP designation.

To add clients who aren't currently visible, click the Upload client list button in the top-right corner of the E-invoicing module. This will allow you to download a template file that you can complete with your client information.

Once you upload your completed client list, Qonto will process the information and display each client's current PDP status. You'll see whether they've already designated a PDP or not.

This upload feature is particularly useful for accountants managing multiple clients at different stages of their Qonto journey. It ensures you have a complete view of all your clients' PDP status in one centralized location. This makes it easier to manage compliance across your entire client portfolio.

How do I activate Qonto as my client's PDP?

To designate Qonto as your client's PDP, follow these steps from the E-invoicing module:

  1. Locate your client in the list and click the + Activate button next to their name
  2. Verify that all your client's company information displayed is correct and complete
  3. Confirm that you have been authorized by your client to make this PDP designation on their behalf
  4. If Qonto cannot automatically verify your client's company information, you'll be asked to upload proof of your client's business registration
  5. Review and submit your request—it will be sent to the government for approval, which typically takes up to 48 hours

☝️ Important: When you certify that you're authorized to designate a PDP on behalf of your client, you're taking legal responsibility for this action.

Qonto provides a template authorization document you can use to collect written permission from your client, but it is your responsibility to obtain these authorizations and store them securely. Qonto reserves the right to request these authorizations at any time, and failure to provide them may result in account closure.

Once the government approves the request, both you and your client will receive an email confirmation. At that point, Qonto becomes the official PDP for both receiving and issuing your client's electronic invoices.

What happens after I submit the PDP activation?

The experience for your client depends on their current relationship with Qonto. After you submit the PDP activation request, your client will receive different communications based on their situation:

  • Your client has a Qonto account and you already have accountant access: No action is required from your client. The PDP activation request is sent directly to the government for approval, and you'll both receive confirmation once it's approved.
  • Your client has a Qonto account, but you don't have accountant access yet: Your client receives an email requesting them to grant you accountant access and approve Qonto as their PDP. Once they approve the request, you'll be granted access to their account and the PDP activation request is automatically sent to the government.
  • Your client has a Basic plan without accountant access: Your client receives an email explaining that you propose to designate Qonto as their PDP and collaborate with them on Qonto. They'll need to upgrade to a plan that includes accountant access. Once upgraded, you'll automatically receive access to their account and the PDP activation request is sent to the government.
  • Your client doesn't have a Qonto account yet: Your client receives an email informing them that Qonto has been selected as their PDP and inviting them to create their Qonto account. They can choose the free Qonto Invoicing plan. Once their account is created, you'll automatically be granted accountant access and the PDP activation request is sent to the government.

In all scenarios, the final step is always the same: once your client completes any required actions on their end, the PDP designation request is submitted to the government for approval.

This approval process typically takes up to 48 hours, after which both you and your client receive email confirmation.

Can I change or cancel a PDP designation?

If your client has already designated another provider as their PDP (showing Other status), you can still designate Qonto as their PDP. Simply click on the Other status and follow the standard activation process.

The most recent PDP designation always overrides the previous selection, so Qonto will replace the other provider once the government approves your request.

If you've initiated a PDP designation but your client hasn't yet confirmed it (status shows Pending), they can decline the request by simply not accepting it. The status will remain Pending, and Qonto won't be designated as their PDP. However, you cannot directly cancel a pending request from the Accountant Hub interface.

Once Qonto has been officially designated as your client's PDP (status shows Qonto), you cannot cancel this designation directly from Qonto. If you need to use a different PDP provider, you would need to proceed with designating that new PDP through their platform.

The new designation will override Qonto's PDP status and replace it with the newly selected provider.

☝️ Note: When Qonto is activated as your client's PDP, it covers both receiving and issuing electronic invoices—the designation applies to all e-invoicing activities for that client.

How can I verify that Qonto is my client's designated PDP?

Once a PDP activation has been submitted and approved, you can confirm the designation at any time through the official government e-invoicing directory.

To check a client's PDP registration:

  1. Go to facturation.chorus-pro.gouv.fr
  2. Enter your client's SIREN number in the search field
  3. The directory will display their currently registered PDP

This is useful if your client wants independent confirmation that the designation went through, or if the status in your Accountant Hub does not yet reflect the latest update.

☝️ Note: Keep in mind that the government directory may take up to 48 hours to reflect a newly approved designation. If Qonto does not yet appear as the registered PDP immediately after approval, check back after the processing window has elapsed.
