As a regulated payment institution, Qonto is required, under the French Monetary and Financial Code (articles L561-1 to L564-2), to keep your information up to date. This applies to all Qonto customers, regardless of plan, and helps us protect your account and prevent fraud, money laundering, or other illegal activities.
Why is Qonto required to verify my identity again?
As an institution regulated by the ACPR (the French banking authority), Qonto must keep accurate, up-to-date customer information to fight fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing. This isn't specific to your account — it's a legal obligation that applies to every Qonto customer, and to every regulated payment institution in France.
Combining identity verification with a digital signature also protects access to your account and reduces the risk of identity theft, so this step doubles as a security measure in your favor.
