How can I submit international transfers in foreign currencies and how much does it cost?

  • Updated

You can make foreign currency transfers via our partner Wise, which enables processing via local networks in addition to the SWIFT network. This solution is faster, more cost‑effective, and offers a smooth experience directly from your Qonto account. No Wise account is required.

For example, you can send GBP to the United Kingdom, INR to India, and AUD to Australia (among many other currencies), with funds credited in a few seconds to 3 business days. The estimated delivery time is shown in the app when you create the transfer.

Scope: – USD can be sent to any country in the list via SWIFT. – All other currencies can only be sent to their home country (see the list of available countries below).

☝️ Good to know: to send USD to the United States, you must use the ACH network (not SWIFT). The requirements are detailed below.

What are the fees?

For 75 % of your transactions, we execute transfers via our partner’s local network (generally lower fees and faster delivery).

Minimum fee rule: a minimum fee of €5 applies via local networks. If the percentage‑based fee exceeds €5, the percentage applies.

Plan Local (USD→USA, GBP, CHF) Local (other currencies) SWIFT (USD outside the US) – SHA SWIFT (USD outside the US) – OUR
Basic 0.80 % 1.80 % 0.80 % + €5 0.80 % + €15
Smart 0.80 % 1.80 % 0.80 % + €5 0.80 % + €15
Premium 0.56 % 1.56 % 0.56 % + €5 0.80 % + €15
Essential 0.56 % 1.56 % 0.56 % + €5 0.80 % + €15
Business 0.56 % 1.56 % 0.56 % + €5 0.80 % + €15
Enterprise 0.56 % 1.56 % 0.56 % + €5 0.80 % + €15

How to view the fees that have been applied?

When you make a transaction in a foreign currency, the exchange fees are automatically integrated into the transaction amount. Detailed fees are accessible in the transaction information if you wish to review them.

When exporting, they will be shown as two separate lines (transaction and fees separate) for accounting compliance purposes.

What are the delivery times?

Timelines depend on the currency, bank holidays in the relevant countries, and time zones.

☝️ Good to know: for most currencies, foreign currency transfers are processed during market hours only. Banks rarely process transfers on weekends and bank holidays. Transfers are then processed on the next business day.

Are there recipient restrictions?

Foreign currency transfers cannot be sent to private individuals (consumers), but can be sent to professionals (sole traders/freelancers) and businesses. If you need to pay a private individual, please provide a contractual agreement specifying the purpose of the payment.

A transfer may be declined if supporting documents are not provided; the euro equivalent credited on return may vary depending on the exchange rate.
