How to use custom dates?

  • Updated

In the ever-evolving world of business, efficiency and automation are key to managing your operations smoothly. One feature that brings both to the table is custom dates. This guide explains what custom dates are, how you can use them, and where they can be applied within your recurring invoice processes.

What are custom dates?

Custom dates are smart, adaptable strings of text that automatically update your documents with specific, real-time dates. These dates eliminate the need for manual updates, ensuring your recurring invoices are always accurate and up-to-date.

For example, you can type %month% as a custom date instead of the actual month, and this will automatically be replaced with the current month name when creating the invoice.

Which custom dates can I use?

We support the following four custom dates:

  • %month%: automatically replaced with the current month (e.g., March) when issuing the invoice.

  • %lastmonth%: automatically replaced with the previous month (e.g., February) when issuing the invoice.

  • %nextmonth%: automatically replaced with the following month (e.g., April) when issuing the invoice.

  • %year%: automatically replaced with the current year (e.g., 2024) when issuing the invoice.

These custom dates ensure your recurring invoices reflect the most up-to-date information without having to edit them manually every time.

☝️ Good to know: If you use a translated version of a custom date in one of the 5 languages supported by Qonto, we will still be able to replace it with the appropriate value.

Where can I use custom dates?

Adding custom dates to your recurring invoices is straightforward.

If you’re setting up a recurring invoice, when adding or editing items, simply type in the desired custom date on the invoice item title and details under the Products and services section (e.g., %month%, %lastmonth%, %nextmonth%, or %year%).

For example, it’s April 2024, and you add an item to a new recurring invoice with the title “Invoice for %month% %year%” to mention the current month and year.

☝️ Good to know: The custom dates you add will be translated into your client’s language.
