How does the Pay later feature work?
Qonto's Pay later feature — also known as purchase financing — lets you finance your supplier invoices and repay the amount in installments 💪. Rather than paying upfront, you upload an invoice, Qonto credits the exact amount to your account and immediately pays your supplier via SEPA transfer, leaving your account balance unchanged.
Repayment is automatically scheduled in 3, 9, or 12 installments (e.g., for 3 installments: at +30, +60, and +90 days), debited directly from your main Qonto account on each due date.
Pay later is available to Owners and Admin, subject to eligibility. Access is currently limited to companies domiciled in France 💻 via the Qonto web app and mobile app.
How do I access and use Pay later?
You can access Pay later from three sections of your Qonto app:
- Financing > Pay later: Browse your available credit and simulate a financing amount.
- Transfers > SEPA transfer by invoice upload > Pay later: Initiate a financed transfer directly from a supplier invoice.
- Invoices > Supplier invoices > Finance this invoice: Finance an invoice directly from your supplier invoices list.
Before committing, the simulator shows you the estimated fees and the full installment breakdown for the amount you want to finance.
To use your available credit:
- Upload your supplier invoice in the app.
- Review the financing simulation (fees and installment schedule).
- Sign the contract to confirm.
- Qonto credits the amount to your account and pays your supplier immediately via SEPA transfer.
- Repayments are automatically debited from your main Qonto account on each scheduled date.
☝️ Make sure your main account always has sufficient funds before each installment date. If Qonto is unable to debit an installment on the scheduled date, you have a grace period of 5 days to fund your account. Beyond this period, access to Pay later will be permanently revoked.
How is the interest rate determined?
The interest rate applied to the financed amount varies based on the eligibility criteria of your account. Several factors may influence the rate you receive:
- Your previous financing history with Qonto
- Your company's income and overall financial standing
- Your aggregated external accounts (if connected)
The APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is an actuarial rate. This means the monthly rate is calculated as the equivalent rate over a period of 90 days (3 installments), 270 days (9 installments), or 365 days (12 installments).
To find out the specific interest rate applicable to your account, check the Pay later cockpit in your Qonto app.
What are the eligibility criteria?
Pay later is available to Owners and Admins roles, subject to the following criteria:
Risk score
Qonto uses external data sources to establish a risk score, which may include:
- Your latest published financial statements
- Your sector of activity
- Your company history
- Your aggregated accounts
Additional eligibility conditions
- Your company must be registered for at least 6 months.
- Your company must be domiciled in France or its overseas territories.
- Nonprofit organizations are not eligible.
- Your company must be fully operational — not in the process of closing or undergoing collective proceedings (e.g., bankruptcy, liquidation).
- Two-step authentication must be activated on your Qonto account.
- If you are or have been subject to an unpaid seizure following a debt contracted with a company, an individual, or financial authorities, your access to Pay later will be revoked.
☝️ Eligibility and your available credit limit are assessed on a daily basis and may evolve over time. Qonto reserves the right to revoke access to Pay later at any time, in accordance with your contract terms.
How can Pay later help with my business cash flow?
Pay later is useful for a wide range of business expenses that require immediate payment but can be spread over time:
- Financing supplies or inventory: Secure payments for construction materials, furniture, auction fees, or restocking.
- Investing in tools and equipment: Purchase goods and services to support and grow your business operations.
- Covering emergency expenses: Handle unexpected costs such as replacing broken equipment, tools, or services.
To increase your credit limit, you can connect your external accounts where your company has income streams — this gives Qonto a more complete picture of your financial standing.
What can I do if I'm not eligible?
If your company has been registered for more than 6 months, you can potentially improve your eligibility or increase your credit limit by connecting your external accounts to Qonto.
If you do not qualify for Pay later, you can explore other financing solutions from Qonto's partners in the Financing > All partners section of your app.
