How to generate a bulk transfer using a .CSV file?

You can make up to 400 transfers at once by uploading a .CSV file in your Qonto application.

☝️ Good to know: it is possible to send bulk transfers instantly, but please note that we cannot guarantee that all transfers will be processed this way.


How do I prepare my CSV file?

You can export a .CSV file from a simple Excel spreadsheet. Make sure your file includes these columns, all of which are necessary to process the transfer:

  • beneficiary_name
  • iban
  • amount
  • currency
  • reference

☝️ Good to know: depending on the accounting software you use, all your data may appear in a single tab. You will need to split each of them into separate columns.

Column Details Example
beneficiary_name Full name of the beneficiary. 140 characters maximum. Supplier 1
iban It must be a valid IBAN in SEPA format. FR00000000000000XXX
amount The amount to send must include two decimal places. Use a period (.) as the decimal separator, not a comma (e.g. 123.45, not 123,45). 123.45
currency The amount must be in euros. Enter "EUR". EUR
reference Reference/description of the transfer. 140 characters maximum. Invoice 123


How do I initiate a bulk transfer?

  1. On the left side of your screen, click on the Business account section of your account.
  2. Click on the Transfers tab and then on Make a Transfer.
  3. Choose the Euro bulk transfers → Upload a file option.

  1. Download our CSV template and consult the linked CSV file guidelines to help you format your CSV file correctly. You can also find the CSV. file template at the end of this article.
  2. Once your CSV file is formatted, drag and drop or click on the drag-and-drop area to select your CSV file from your computer and upload it.
  3. Click Continue once your file has been successfully uploaded. An error message will appear if there is a problem with the file format or content, specifying the issue. If the format is incorrect, a red window will appear.
  4. The web application will prompt you to verify the transfer details. You will be able to review the details and make any necessary changes for each beneficiary based on your uploaded file before clicking "Continue". All missing or invalid data will be highlighted in red with a brief description of the issue.
  5. Select the account to be debited and optionally schedule the transfer before clicking Continue.
  6. Take a final look at the summary and check that everything is correct before clicking Confirm.

☝️ Good to know: if you realise there is an error after confirming, you can cancel a single transfer by going back to the Transfers section of your app and clicking on it. All beneficiaries are automatically saved to your beneficiary list. If you have set up strong authentication on your account, you will receive a confirmation request on your associated phone.

 

What are the requirements for my CSV file?

⚠️ Make sure that:

  • your file contains fewer than 400 transactions
  • there are no missing fields
  • your file contains only EUR transactions
  • your file does not contain any IBANs outside the SEPA network
  • the beneficiary name or reference is not too long
  • your file does not contain any special characters (é, è, ¨, ^....)
  • your account has been topped up before proceeding with the operation
  • you do not invert any columns in your file and follow the downloaded template
  • your amounts use a period as the decimal separator, not a comma (example: 123.45)
