Can I import multiple beneficiaries at once to make a bulk transfer?

  • Updated

Importing beneficiaries in batch is a convenient feature when changing from a bank to another. Qonto allows importing up to 400 beneficiaries at the same time.

How does it work?

  1. Download the following empty CSV file: qonto_import_beneficiaries_empty.csv

  2. Fill the CSV file with your beneficiaries, using Microsoft Excel or any other spreadsheet editor (Do not modify the first row)

  3. Open the file in the Qonto application

  4. Go to the Business account tab of your Qonto space

  5. Access the Transfers section

  6. Click the Make a transfer icon in the upper right corner of your screen

  7. Choose SEPA transfer in euros from the available transfer options
  8. This will take you to the beneficiary selection screen

How do I add new beneficiaries via CSV upload?

  • On the beneficiary selection page, click New beneficiary
  • Look for the Upload your .csv file option at the top of the page
  • Click on here to learn more and download a CSV template

Your CSV file should include the following information for each beneficiary:

  • First and last name or company name (e.g., "Jane Doe, BTP France...")
  • Beneficiary IBAN (e.g., "FR12 3456 7891 0111 2131 4151 617")
  • Beneficiary email (optional - e.g., "jane.doe@qonto.com")

How do I upload my file?

  • Click on the CSV file upload area (indicated by the upload icon)
  • Select your prepared CSV file from your computer
  • The system will process the file and import your beneficiaries

⚠️ I get an error when uploading my file, what should I do ?

Your file has to include the 3 columns below, separated by a semicolon (;). If it doesn't, you will get an error.

(Please note that the file is in English, so it is not possible to modify or translate the column titles)

  • NAME

  • IBAN

  • EMAIL

DO NOT CHANGE THE COLUMNS NAME

If it is correct, your file should like one of those two examples, don't forget to export into CSV type:

☝️ depending on the spreadsheet editor you have, you will have to fill either the 3 datas in every in 3 different columns either fill the 3 datas in one column separated by a semicolon (;). (see examples)

Regarding the values, only the following columns have to be filled in NAME, IBAN. The value for "EMAIL" can remain blank, it is optional.

IBAN data must comply with the right format. In case of error, the confirmation screen will highlight beneficiaries for whom the parameter is wrong, so you get a chance to fix them.

As soon as the information will be modified, you will be able to validate the export of your beneficiary list.

NB: it's not possible for now to put in the files non-sepa accounts.

What are the benefits of importing beneficiaries?

  • Bulk import: Add multiple beneficiaries simultaneously instead of entering them one by one
  • Efficient bookkeeping: Including VAT rates and analytic labels helps manage your accounting more efficiently
  • Time-saving: Perfect for businesses that need to manage many regular payment recipients

💡 What should I keep in mind?

  • The CSV template provided by Qonto ensures your file is formatted correctly
  • Make sure all IBAN numbers are valid before uploading
  • Email addresses are optional but recommended for better beneficiary management
  • Once imported, beneficiaries will be available for future transfers
